FaithQuest's Vision & Purpose
FaithQuest Perspectives is now a 30-year old ministry to an ever-growing family of friends
and partners around the world - each one excited by discovering truths about God's love
that, despite many years attending Church and Bible studies, they'd never dared to believe.
All men and women carry the unwanted burden of their fallen humanity. For reasons varying
with each individual, we find ourselves with struggles we would never have chosen had we
had the opportunity to decide. God in His compassion surely understands this. And for this
reason He has brought grace to all men.
The good news is that Christ has taken the burden of humanity for us. He has brought fallen
humanity to an end in His own death for all. All who place their faith in Him need never carry
its shame. They are counted with Christ's righteousness, and released for a new love as
subjects of Christ's new Kingdom.
Christians struggling with all kinds of recurring thoughts and addictive behaviours - anxiety,
grief, loneliness, relationship problems, hetero- and homosexual compulsions, eating
disorders, alcohol and drug abuse - as well as any number of other struggles linked to
simply being human, can know the intimate help and favor of God. He does not cast them off,
and has revealed Himself in Christ to help them with their struggles, so that they might, by
faith, live in the identity of His image, and not the image of their fallen humanity.
FaithQuest Perspectives helps Christians and would-be Christians to know the meaning of
the Gospel in their sexual struggles. By faith-training we learn to know sexuality in Christ as
an innocent and beautiful passion instead of a dark and abusive lust. As we learn a
companionship with God that is free from guilt, shame and fear, we learn to discover the
healthy ingredients of our new Self that give us an ability to direct our sexuality in harmony
with God's ways, rather than being directed by it. The difference is the difference between lust
and passion, addiction and freedom.
FaithQuest Perspectives never set out to be an evangelistic organisation. The ministry
was born out of the experiences of one man and is largely still in that domain. Yet over
these last 30 years, the vital understandings of God's grace entrusted to Colin Cook -
things that have long been forgotten by those teaching in so many established Churches -
have steadily found their way into the hearts of men and women around the world who
have felt or experienced rejection by such Churches.
This all began with Colin travelling and preaching across America and in Europe and
continued with telephone counseling to those in many countries, many of whom had either
read Colin's articles or tuned into "How it Happens" at times when it was more widely
broadcast.
People have come and gone and today the FaithQuest team is still just a small group of
close friends whose own Christian lives have been wonderfully enriched by Colin's teaching.
Nine years ago, with other teachers and counselors rising from the 'family', FaithQuest's
ministry of the Gospel in Africa began with our International Director, Tim, taking the
faith-training seminars to touch hearts and free minds among Christian leaders and pastors
in Rwanda and DR Congo.
More recently, through the love of Christ expressed in the simple family-like contact and care
that typifies this ministry, God's Spirit has touched ordinary simple souls in Ghana and
Nigeria. Tim and Colin's spiritual 'parenting' of youngsters in Philippines, Nepal, West and
Central Africa has also been an enormous blessing.
And we praise God that 2007 saw the launch of FaithQuest UK in Great Britain.
