"Hello and welcome to the part of the website where
we try to think on more of a global scale. The new
FaithQuest International website is on its way, but
meanwhile I've managed to sneak in a page on this
one while Colin wasn't looking!

"We live in a world full of confusion, paradox and pain.
And for many people in the sophisticated West, their
experiences of Christianity and Church end up by
following a similar pattern. The wide variety of gospels
being put out under a Christian flag, even by the main-
line denominations, can end up being decidedly Bad
News for those who fall prey to them. At the end of a long
era in which the UK and the USA have played leading
roles in world mission, what is it in fact that we have
exported around the globe? The Gospel of Jesus Christ
in the power of the Holy Spirit? or just some kind of
civilising, moralistic religion that
looks like the Gospel
and panders to our need for spirituality, but in which the
Living God has played little or no part?

"Whatever the answer to this question, so many people
in our churches, both at home and abroad, including
missionaries and Church leaders, appear to need
reminding of (or even to understand for the first time) the
incredible grace of a God who came in love to effect a
rescue that required His own death, because
  • absolutely nothing we could do was able to
contribute in any way to doing away with the
    issue of sin between us,
  • absolutely nothing we could do was able to
    reconcile us to Him, and
  • absolutely nothing we could do was able to bring
back the Life of God to live within us forever...
the same Spirit of Life that was lost to us so long
    ago in Eden.

"Many missions hide their lack of faith behind the need
to get on with their good works. For some, even faith
itself becomes a work. And so the quest continues for
faith - the kind of faith that Jesus Himself questioned
would be found on His return:
  • faith not in what might happen in the future, but in
what did happen in the past,
  • faith that understands the total sufficiency that is
already ours for this life and the next,
  • faith in the complete sovereignty of Jesus Christ
over everything that happens in this world, good
    or bad,
  • faith that simply reaches out to receive all this
"Life in All its Fullness" as His free and
    unconditional love-gift.

"It's a simple Gospel, and yet so many people spend so
much of their time complicating and blurring it, or using
their incomplete and twisted versions to control others -
merely leading them out of one bondage into the even
worse bondage of religion (and the inevitable neurosis
that goes with it).  It's a simple Gospel, and Jesus chose
simple, ordinary nobodies like us to take His Good
News to the world.

"And so at FaithQuest, we have put aside all the usual
success-oriented "CV/Resumé" methods that most
missions use to appoint their missionaries. We are
looking to encourage young men and women who have
known suffering, loneliness and failure, yet whose
overriding goal in life is to know God better and better -
bringing Him into their struggles, because they already
know and experience that "to live
is Christ"." Jesus
Himself
is the Good News. He is the Kingdom of God
within us.  And following Him means knowing Him
personally, not just knowing about Him."

FaithQuest has been steering the
Biblical teaching and pastoral faith-
training through Tim's ministries in
Rwanda, Burundi, DR Congo, Kenya
and Uganda since 2001.

Most recently, we have become
involved with a unique initiative to
bring some African Churches, most
of whose members are unable to
travel outside their countries, into
the field of international and world
mission.

Through the newly formed Rwanda
Fellowship, we are trying to help
mission-minded African Christians
respond to Jesus Christ's Great
Commission through a new
" Mission By Remote Control"
program. Watch out for news and a
link to the Rwanda Fellowship
website to find out how you can be
involved in this exciting project.

During the coming academic year,
Tim will be lecturing at seminars
across the UK and parts of Africa,
as well as to English- speaking
Church, college and residential
communities in France, Holland,
Italy and Luxembourg.

But as a very wise man once said,
"If you want to give the Lord a
laugh, tell Him your future plans!!"

GAN, 28, lives and works in the Philippines. His
father was drowned at sea when Gan was 11,
leaving the family in poverty. For 9 years Colin has
been Gan's spiritually adoptive dad and mentor.

FaithQuest has recently supported Gan through a
nursing course recognized by the US to RN status.
He has passed all four years with near top grades
and graduated in March 2009.

Gan is a highly skilled nursing practitioner of
enormous courage, compassion and faith.
OKECHUWKU (known as Okey), 28, was a policeman
in Nigeria. His father left the family without support
when Okey was only 4 and died when he was 17.

Okey was sleeping on the street when he first met
Colin.  He is now a keen and faithful follower of the
Lord Jesus Christ.

FaithQuest has helped Okey to get an associate
degree in Accounting and more recently to set up a
laundry business under Okey's management. The
laundry also plays home to a mission initiative with a
space for customers to watch FaithQuest videos and
other films and programs about the Lord Jesus.
PURNA, 23, based in Nepal and studying in India, is
the youngest of our spiritually adopted kids. When
he was just 8, Purna fled from Bhutan and became
one of 120,000 Bhutanese who were thrown out of
their homes and into refugee camps in Nepal.

Purna has a jewel of faith, rarely seen in the West in
a young man of his age.  Purna is likely to become a
leading light in the Church in Asia and/or a vital
missionary to his native Bhutan.

FaithQuest is supporting Purna at a prestigious
school for accountants in Calcutta.  He then hopes
to come to the US to complete his master's.
EVARISTE, 29, and his new wife SERAPHINE, 27,
are two of Tim's spiritually adopted children in the
Central African country of Rwanda. Tim knew both
of them long before they even met each other and
was flabbergasted to hear that they had not only
met, but had fallen in love and were getting married!

Both of their stories going back to early childhood
are of the unbelievable suffering experienced by so
many in Rwanda, but for these two leading on to
incredible faith in and powerful testimonies to the
Lord Jesus.

Tim and FaithQuest have supported them both for
over 8 years and  we were thrilled to hear in April
this year of the birth of baby Isaac.
FaithQuest Invests in Potential Young Leaders of Faith
Over the last several years,
the quest to find and train new
young men and women of real
faith, whose lives and servant
leadership will bring the
refreshing rain of the Good
News of Jesus Christ to those
in their own countries, both
inside and outside of the
formal churches, has led to
Colin, Tim and FaithQuest
'adopting' and supporting the
very special people pictured
above. Please read more
about them further down the
page. And please help us too
with your prayers and gifts to
help bring their training and
ministries to fruition.
Here then are our not so new kids on the block - part of FaithQuest's
increasingly international family. Please pray for them!
FaithQuest's International Director
for the last 8 years is Dr Tim Green,
a former International School Head
in France and Switzerland and now
longtime Educationalist & Mission
Development Consultant based in
Great Britain.

International Schooling is Tim's
professional passion. When he was
only 17, he set up his first boarding
school in Rwanda for 'mish-kids'
unable to return to Uganda during
the Amin crisis. Since then he has
designed, opened and headed
schools for children and young
people from all over the world and
in many different social situations.

"I've been privileged to spend so
many years within what seems to
me to be the ideal 'garden' for
sowing the seed of the Gospel...  the
international boarding high school.
You'll find all the different kinds of
'soil' present within young hearts.
And you work your socks off to
ensure that each individual heart is
lovingly fed and nurtured towards
its highest potential for germinating
and growing the seed. For we
should never forget that we are
never stuck with the 'soil' we
started with."

More recently, his 'Robin Hood'
approach to partnering schools
across geographical and social
divides, in the context of his
"Teaching the Young to Care"
accreditation program,  has meant
huge new opportunities for poorer
kids in the developing world, as well
as a radical change of perspective
and attitude in the hearts and minds
of thousands of their more wealthy
peers in the West.

Although he continues to keep a
hand in high school education,
Tim's full-time concern these days
is much more with preaching the
Gospel, teaching Bible and training
pastors. In Great Britain, he heads
up FaithQuest UK and leads our
faith training and pastoral
partnership development initiatives
in Europe and Africa.
Sshh! ... Little known fact....

Before hitting the international
education scene, Tim spent many
successful years as a professional
theatrical director and BBC Radio
producer.  Both of these areas of
expertise are now serving us well.

As to radio production skills, plans
for 24/7 Quest Radio continue, as do
those for a new university campus
Gospel radio training station in the
Great Lakes Region of Africa.

And as to theatre skills? Well...
most days at FaithQuest tend to
turn into a Biblical epic anyway, with
or without a director!
